Heather Boyer RMT Heather has been practicing Massage Therapy since 2007. She completed her 3000 hours of training with the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. After graduating she has continued to take post-graduate courses focused on Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, and Visceral Manipulation. Along with her commitment to her Massage Therapy practice, she began her study of movement, receiving her Mat Pilates certification in 2013, and since has completed over 500 hours of Yoga teacher training.

Heather cares about maintaining her health and fitness and is passionate about supporting her clients to meet their own wellness goals. She believes that alongside a healthy diet and enjoyable exercise, Massage Therapy is one of the greatest selfcare modalities for maintaining fluid mobile and healthy body tissues. Her focus in her practice is Myofascial Release and Craniosacral Therapies. She takes a full body approach in her treatments, aiming to release body tension and restore postural alignment. As part of her treatment, she offers her clients a homecare routine to support her clients to be an active part of their journey to wellness.

Heather’s experience working as an RMT and her study of Myofascial Anatomy, Movement Practices, and Tensegrity has brought her to understand the importance of movement during the healing process and recovery from injury. After completing her Pilates training, she began working with clients individually to help them develop awareness of their posture and movement patterns. Since then, she has created her own therapeutic movement sequences to facilitate her clients’ recovery from injuries, and help them regain stability, range of motion, fluidity, and ease of movement in their body.

Heather is new to the Nelson community. After travelling to Nelson for 10 years, and falling in love with the Kootenays, she made her relocation from Vancouver in July of 2018. She is more than excited to serve her new community and share her knowledge and passion of the human body.

Tessa Rowan RMT Tessa Rowan began on the path of wellness and healing when she started teaching yoga five years ago. She sees the practice as an opportunity to facilitate the body’s own healing mechanisms.

Her approach to massage is in a similar vein. She encourages relaxation and mind-body connection so that the client becomes better prepared to allow for healing within. Tessa’s approach is one that takes into account the whole person in a way that acknowledges how lifestyle, stress, and trauma can play a part in a person’s aches and pains.

In each session with Tessa, you are offered her grounding presence, open heart, and perceptive hands. Trusting her with your body is a responsibility she treats with the utmost level of respect and professionalism.

Tessa is currently stepping into a locum position for Heather Boyer, RMT at Unity Bodyworks and will be working directly with her in a mentorship program for the month of July.

The clinic is located in downtown Nelson at 540 Baker Street, Nelson BC. We are located upstairs within the Kootenai Pilates Centre. Our aim is to create a comfortable, safe, and relaxing environment for our patients. We work with each patient to meet their individual needs and goals, and are dedicated to achieving noticeable results.

The clinic offers a wide range of treatment techniques including deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and Swedish relaxation massage. Home care recommendations are provided after treatment and may include therapeutic stretches and exercises. After your first appointment, a personal treatment plan will be discussed with you to meet your needs. We recommend a series of three appointments booked fairly close together. This will be followed by a reassessment of the treatment plan depending on the outcome of your treatments.
